On certain vehicles, the electronic stability control (ESC) and antilock brake system (ABS) could turn off due to a software error. If this happens, the vehicle's ESC and ABS warning lights would not turn on.
Safety Risk
If a driver is not aware that the ESC and ABS systems are not working, there could be an increased risk of a crash.
Remedy
General Motors will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the Electronic Brake Control Module software.

Certain vehicles fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110 - Tire Selection and Rims. These vehicles may have been equipped with accessory alloy wheels and tires prior to delivery to the customer. The specifications and recommended tire inflation pressures for the original equipment wheel and tire sizes, and the accessory wheel and tire size, are different. A replacement tire loading placard may not have been provided when the accessory wheels and tires were installed.
Safety Risk

On certain vehicles, a faulty printed circuit board may cause the rear tail lamp / brake lamp bulbs (either left or right side) to fail. Failure of the rear lamps may result in the following road users being unaware of the driver's intentions, as well as reducing vehicle conspicuity during hours of darkness, which could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace both rear tail lamp assemblies.

On certain vehicles, the rear axle brake tubes can fatigue, resulting in a loss of fluid in the rear brake system and reduced braking capability. Loss of rear braking, at a time when minimum stopping distance is required, could result in a vehicle crash without prior warning.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
New brake pipe assemblies with redesigned mounting brackets will be installed.

On certain vehicles, the cable between the actuating lever for the secondary hood latch and the secondary latch may become corroded over time. This could cause the secondary hood latch to remain in the open position when the hood is closed. If the vehicle were to be driven with the primary hood latch disengaged, or primary hood latch is released while driving, the secondary hood latch may not hold the hood closed while the vehicle is in motion. If this were to occur, it could compromise the driver’s ability to see the road and its users, as well as cause damage to the windshield. These issues could result in a crash causing injury and/or property damage.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the secondary hood latch cable.

This recall is for accessory "Café Racer" fairing kits sold as optional or aftermarket equipment for certain motorcycles. The two conduits that position the wiring harness within the fairing may have insufficient clearance. This could result in damage to the wiring, potentially leading to an engine stall and/or loss of the headlight and/or turn signals.
Safety Risk
A loss of lighting or a sudden engine stall could increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the wire conduits.

Certain trucks were equipped with Bridgestone M864, M860A or M854 wide-base tires, size 425/65R22.5, that may not conform to the endurance testing requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 119 - Tires for vehicles other than passenger cars. A manufacturing problem could cause a bulge or blister to be present in the sidewall of the tires. Over time, this could cause deterioration of the tire’s structure and lead to a sudden tire failure that may increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace affected tires as necessary.

On certain motorcycles, the bracket portion of the passenger grab rail, which is located to the rear of the passenger seat, can break. This could cause the passenger to lose their balance and fall from the motorcycle, or could disturb the rider's ability to control the motorcycle and could cause a crash without prior warning.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
An updated passenger grab tail will be installed.

On certain vehicles equipped with Pre-Collision System (PCS), the system could unexpectedly activate while operating the vehicle. Under certain situations, the system may interpret a steel joint or plate in the roadway as an obstacle, and the system may apply the service brake automatically. If the PCS applies unexpected braking force during normal vehicle operation when no impending collision object is present, it could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will disable the Pre-Collision System (PCS) as an interim measure, and when parts become available, will replace the PCS components with improved parts.
On certain vehicles, a rear wheel speed sensor may not have been installed correctly, which causes the sensor to report an incorrect wheel speed to the anti-lock brake system (ABS) control unit. The on-board diagnostic system quickly identifies this error under most normal driving conditions and activates numerous warning lamps and disables the ABS. Brake application below the ABS threshold, or after ABS is disabled, is not affected. However, if brake application exceeding the ABS threshold occurs before the malfunction is detected, the ABS control unit may reduce brake force to all wheels. An unexpected loss of brake force can cause a crash.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the rear wheel speed sensors. If an incorrect gap is detected, the sensor will be removed and the knuckle checked for cross-threading damage and replaced, if necessary.

On a small number of vehicles, a connection in the wiring for the passenger-front airbag may not have been secured properly and could loosen. As a result, the airbag may not inflate in a crash.
Safety Risk
An airbag that doesn't work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Remedy
None of the affected vehicles have been delivered to customers. General Motors will instruct dealers to repair the wiring for the passenger-front airbag before each vehicle is delivered.

Certain vehicles may be equipped with an accessory trailer wiring harness kit that could fail. Over time, moisture could enter the control module and cause a short circuit.
Note: This recall only affects Hyundai Genuine Accessory trailer wiring harness kits that were manufactured by third parties and sold in Canada. These kits may have been ordered at the time of a vehicle purchase, or purchased separately from a dealer as an aftermarket accessory.
Safety Risk
A short circuit could create a fire risk. This risk remains even when the vehicle is parked.
Remedy
Hyundai will notify owners by mail and instruct you to inspect your vehicle to see if it has an affected trailer wiring harness installed. If it does, Hyundai will advise you to take your vehicle to a dealer to install a redesigned trailer wiring harness. Hyundai recommends that you should park your vehicle outdoors, and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed.

On certain vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, specific operating conditions (such as extreme temperatures, combined with high battery and accessory loads, and operation near engine stalling speeds), could allow the Engine Control Unit (ECU) to activate the engine stall prevention assist software which, in turn, could inadvertently command the hybrid system's electric motor to rotate the engine in the opposite direction, causing the vehicle to move in the reverse direction of that expected. This could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will update the ECU software.

On certain vehicles, the wiring for the Occupant Detection System (ODS) could break. This would cause the airbag system to not turn off the airbag when an infant or child is seated in the front passenger seat. This problem only affects vehicles with a manual front-passenger seat.
Safety Risk
In a crash, an airbag that deploys in front of an infant or child increases the risk of injury.
Remedy
The company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to remove a wiring harness clip. This will prevent the wire from breaking. If the wiring is found damaged, the dealer will replace the front passenger seat cushion.
Note: If the wiring breaks, the SRS airbag warning light will come on and the "Passenger Airbag Off" indicator will not turn on.
