On certain vehicles, the high-voltage battery could overheat. As a result, the battery could create smoke or heat, which can melt or damage the battery and nearby parts.
Note: This recall only affects plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models.
Safety Risk
A battery that overheats can create a fire risk.
Remedy
To reduce the safety risk, Audi advises not to charge your vehicle until the recall repairs have been completed. Audi will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to install an advanced diagnostic software that will monitor the high-voltage battery and warn you if it detects a problem. If you see this warning, you should contact a dealership to arrange replacement of the affected high-voltage battery module.

On certain vehicles equipped with a 2.3 litre GTDI engine and an engine block heater, due to the engine’s orientation, the block heater could be susceptible to overheating. An overheated engine block heater may result in engine coolant leakage, or heat damage to the electrical connector of the block heater. Overheating of the engine block heater may increase the risk of an underhood fire causing injury and/or property damage.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the engine block heater element with one of a different design, and will inspect the block heater's electrical cord, and replace if required. In the interim, owners are advised to stop using their block heater until the campaign is completed.

On certain vehicles, the brake light switch may not be in the correct position. This would result in the brake lamps staying on at all times. This could also allow the transmission to be shifted out of the park (P) position without applying the brakes.
Safety Risk
Shifting out of park without applying the brakes could cause unintended vehicle movement. If the brake lights stay on, a following driver may not recognize when a vehicle ahead is braking. Either of these outcomes could increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
The company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect the brake pedal assembly. The assembly will be replaced as required.

Certain vehicles may not comply with CMVSS 207 - Seat Anchorages. Vehicles may have been shipped with one or two front seat mounting bolts not installed. In a vehicle crash, a seat with this condition will not protect the occupant as required by the standard.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will check all seat mounting bolts and install new bolts where required.

On certain vehicles, the compliance label contains Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) values that exceeds the capacity of the tires. Loading the vehicle beyond tire capacity could result in poor vehicle handling and braking characteristics, and possible tire failure, which could lead to a loss of vehicle control, causing a crash with personal injury or death.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Updated labels will be mailed to owners of affected vehicles, along with instructions for proper installation.

On certain pickup trucks, if certain model rear facing infant child seats are installed in the right front passenger seating position with the passenger seat in a full forward position and the passenger air bag deploys, the vehicle may not meet requirements for low risk deployments during certain crash conditions.
Safety Risk

Remedy
Dealers will replace the passenger air bag cushion and reprogram the occupant restraint control module.

On certain vehicles, the inspection completed by a Kia dealer during service campaign SC044 (Transport Canada recall number 2022-222) may not have been done correctly. As a result, a second inspection is required.
Over time, the brake lines under the vehicle could corrode. If this happens, a brake line could fail and leak. A brake fluid leak can result in reduced braking.
Note: This service campaign replaces service campaign SC044 (Transport Canada recall number 2022-222). Vehicles that had brake lines replaced under that service campaign don't require this inspection.
Safety Risk
Reduced braking can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Kia will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the brake lines. The dealer will apply an anti-corrosion treatment and replace the brake lines, if required.

On certain vehicles operated in areas of heavy road salt usage (Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador), road salt can collect in the rear portion of the side members of the subframe and may result in internal corrosion leading to thinning or perforation of the subframe steel. The corrosion may ultimately lead to separation of the lower control arm at the forward mounting point to the subframe. When separation occurs, in most cases, the movement of the arm will cause the axle to pull out of the transaxle and the vehicle will no longer have drive power to the wheels. In extreme cases, the wheel can also rotate off its designed axis and make contact with the fender or the wheel well. Both outcomes could result in a loss of vehicle control and a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the front subframe assembly. Should the subframe not require replacement, drainage holes will be added, as well as treatment with rust-proofing material to arrest the corrosion process.

On certain electric vehicles, a software problem could cause the pedestrian warning system not to work properly. Canadian regulations require electric vehicles to make a minimum sound level when operating at low speeds.
Safety Risk
A pedestrian warning system that doesn't work properly could create an increased risk of injury for other road users.
Remedy
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the acoustic vehicle alerting system (AVAS) software.

On certain motorcycles, the fuel tank vent pipe may have been improperly welded during vehicle assembly. Due to vibration, improperly welded tanks may crack and drip fuel. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, can cause a fire.
Safety Risk

Remedy
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the fuel tank.
On certain vehicles, the windshield wiper linkage may disengage due to a cracked or fractured ball socket, which could potentially result in sudden and complete loss of windshield wiper function without prior warning. In adverse weather this condition could result in reduced driver visibility and a possible crash.
Safety Risk

On certain vehicles, there could be an electrical condition within the Occupant Restraint Control ("ORC") module. This may result in the airbag warning lamp illuminating, and the active head restraints not to deploy during certain rear impact collisions, which could increase the risk of injury to front seat occupants.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the ORC part number and replace the ORC if necessary.

On certain motorcycles, the threaded plugs which secures the front fork tubes to the upper triple clamp may loosen over time. This could allow a fork tube to detach, which could result in a sudden loss of steering control and a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will crimp-lock the fork tube threaded plugs.
On certain vehicles, the air bag sensor wiring pigtail insulation may become brittle and crack over time due to water accumulation in the protective convolute combined with high under hood temperatures and routing of the pigtail near the radiator. This could result in the air bag warning light illuminating and disabling of the air bag.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Air bag sensors with revised wiring insulation will be installed. Also, vehicles which have the air bag warning light illuminated will have a new air bag diagnostic monitor installed if required.

On certain vehicles equipped with Power Liftgate option, in the event of a liftgate strut malfunction, the liftgate may fall freely without warning after the liftgate is powered open. If the vehicle operator or passenger is standing beneath the liftgate when it falls, an injury may result.
Safety Risk

Remedy
Dealers will reprogram the power liftgate module. The latest software version allows the motor to sense a falling liftgate and activate an un-commanded power close mode to control lowering of the liftgate in the event that a strut failure occurs.
