On certain motorcycles, the reverse gear control unit may not have been sealed properly. As a result, water could enter the control unit and cause it to corrode. If this happens, the control unit could short circuit and overheat. This could also cause the turn signals and reverse function not to work.

A short circuit can create the risk of a fire. Turn signals that don't work may cause a person not to recognize when the rider intends to turn or change lanes and could increase the risk of a crash.

On certain vehicles, the front passenger seat occupant classification system (OCS) may not work properly. As a result, the airbag system may turn off the passenger-front airbag even when a passenger is seated.
Note: This problem would cause the supplemental restraint system (SRS) malfunction indicator to display on the instrument panel, a warning to display in the driver information center and the airbag indicator light to display ''Passenger Airbag OFF''.
