The 2018 Ducati Panigale V4 has 11 recalls, the most serious involving a rear axle shaft that can break while riding, causing sudden loss of control and raising the risk of a crash.
Three separate engine oil leak paths round out the most critical concerns: the timing chain tensioner can loosen and drip oil onto the rear tire, and the oil cooler output port can crack and leak, both of which reduce rear tire grip and can cause a loss of control. On the fuel system side, excessive pressure in the tank can cause fuel to spray out when the cap is opened, and a separate valve plug in the tank's internal breathing system can also leak fuel; in either case, fuel near an ignition source raises the risk of fire. The rear brake pads carry their own concern, as the friction material can detach from the backing plate, extending stopping distances and reducing braking effectiveness.
