On certain AMG model vehicles, there could be an issue within the software of the engine control unit (ECU) which could cause an engine shut-down just before a vehicle stop. If this were to occur, the driver might mistakenly interpret the engine shut-down as a planned shut-down as part of the ECO start/stop system. However, the engine will not restart automatically after releasing the brake pedal, and would needed to be restarted manually. Depending on traffic conditions and the driver’s reactions, an unintentional engine shut-down could increase the risk of a crash.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will update the ECU software.

ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 2.5L ENGINE, THE CRANK ANGLE SENSOR IS AFFECTED BY TEMPERATURE VARIATIONS. UNDER CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS, THESE VARIATIONS IN TEMPERATURE CAN BE LARGE ENOUGH TO CAUSE A BRIEF INTERRUPTION IN THE SIGNAL OUTPUT FROM THE SENSOR.
Safety Risk
IF THE INTERRUPTION IN THE SIGNAL FROM THE SENSOR IS SO BRIEF THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM) LOGIC DOES NOT HAVE TIME TO DIAGNOSE THE CONDITION, THE ENGINE MAY STOP RUNNING WITHOUT WARNING WHILE THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN AT A LOW SPEED INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE ECM FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 21, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.
NOTE: VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIR BAGS.
DEFECT: AFFECTED VEHICLES DO NOT HAVE A TERMINAL HOLDER FITTED TO THE FEMALE PORTION OF THE CONNECTOR WHICH CONNECTS THE CLOCK SPRING CONTACT ASSEMBLY TO THE AIR BAG WIRING ASSEMBLY. THIS COULD CAUSE THE ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE WITHIN THE TERMINAL CONNECTION TO INCREASE OVER TIME AND CAUSE THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (AIR BAG) WARNING LAMP TO ILLUMINATE.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
A TERMINAL HOLDER WILL BE INSTALLED.
