On certain vehicles, the engine may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the engine could make abnormal noises and a warning light may turn on. If you continue to drive the vehicle with these symptoms, the engine could fail.
Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with 1.5 L variable compression engines.
Safety Risk
An engine failure could cause a sudden loss of power to the wheels and/or increase the risk of a vehicle fire. Both issues could increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Remedy
Nissan will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the engine control module. The dealer will also inspect and, if necessary, replace the engine.
On certain motorcycles, a ground joint connector of the wire harness could overheat, become deformed, and cause an intermittent ground wire connection. If the electrical system is not properly grounded, the ignition system and/or other electrical components could malfunction, which could cause the engine to stall. Engine stalling would result in lost vehicle propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the rider's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will install an additional wire sub-lead; however, if the ground joint connector has already been damaged from overheating, the main wire harness will be replaced.
