Certain vehicles may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CVMSS) 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. The rear turn signal lamps on the tailgate of the vehicle may flash in amber, while the outboard rear turn signal lamps flash red, which is contrary to the requirements of the standard. This could result in following road users being confused by the turn signal lamps simultaneously flashing red and amber, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

The headlight horizontal adjustment screws on these vehicles may not be properly sealed behind a non-removable sealing cap to keep headlights from being readjusted. On certain vehicles with folding seats and a total permissible weight of under 4536 kg (10,000 lbs), the information label for body builders contains incorrect information regarding the unloaded vehicle weight (UVW). The purpose of the label is to provide fuel consumption relevant weight information, however, if a body builder were to refer to the incorrect UVM information, the maximum permissible UVW may be exceeded after the vehicle modification is complete, which in the event of a crash, could increase risk of injury and/or property damage.

Daimler Vans USA, LLC (DVUSA) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 and Sprinter 3500 vehicles, equipped with folding seats (sales code S20). The unloaded vehicle weight (UVW) label on these incomplete vehicles may be incorrect.
Safety Risk
