On certain vehicles, a low-voltage condition caused by a loose battery connection or a low battery could cause a problem with the Transmission Control Module (TCM). If this happens, the transmission could shift to Park (P) while driving. This could cause damage to the transmission park pawl. As a result, when the transmission is shifted to P, the vehicle could move if the parking brake is not applied.

Remedy
Honda will mail a letter to owners asking them to take their vehicle to a Honda Automobile dealer. The dealer will ensure the battery terminals are secure and update the TCM with the latest software. If the parking gear cannot hold the vehicle in Park without application of the electronic parking brake, the transmission will be replaced.

This could cause abnormal noise, the malfunction indicator lamp to turn ON, and allow contact between the transmission idle gear and an electronic sensor housing within the transmission, resulting in a short circuit that causes the engine to stall. Engine stalling would result in lost vehicle propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, broken pieces may become lodged in the parking pawl resulting in the vehicle rolling after the driver has placed the gear selector in the PARK position. These issues could result in property damage and/or personal injury.

On certain motorcycles, if the bolts holding the exhaust system are allowed to loosen, the bracket holding the mufflers can break. If this occurs, the broken bracket and the mufflers could fall loose from the motorcycle, damaging or pulling loose the rear hydraulic brake hose, causing loss of rear brake performance. The loose muffler parts could also present a traffic hazard for those around the motorcycle. Additionally, the rider could be distracted as the mufflers fall loose, leading to a crash.
