BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2015 X5 vehicles manufactured September 12, 2014,to September 21, 2014 and equipped with the optional rear comfort seat. The left rear seat belt attachment point in the affected vehicles may not have been sufficiently welded.
Safety Risk
In the event of a crash, the seat belt attachment could break and fail to restrain a seat occupant, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy
BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the left rear seat frame, free of charge. The recall began November 2014. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 or CustomerRelations@bmwusa.com.
On certain vehicles, the molding flash on the primary lever may prevent operation of the deceleration lock and tilt lock functions of the driver's side retractor. If this should occur in a frontal crash situation, driver protection from the seat belt may be reduced, increasing the risk of injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Left front retractor assemblies will be replaced on affected vehicles.

On certain vehicles, the driver and front passenger seatbelt anchor plate may not have been properly bolted to the pretensioner anchor plate during assembly. In the event of a crash, the seatbelt may be unable to provide sufficient restraint force, which could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Tesla Service Technicians at authorized locations will inspect and affect repairs as necessary.
On certain vehicles, the seat belt push button may not release the latch plate after the pretensioner is deployed, or alternately the seat belt latch plate may eject during a crash event with a pretensioner deployment. If an occupant was using the seat belt assembly and the latch plate ejected from the buckle assembly during pretensioner actuation, the seat belt assembly may not provide a desired level of occupant restraint. If an occupant was using the seat belt assembly and the push button became stuck in the buckle assembly during pretensioner actuation, pressing on the seat belt push button would not release the latch plate from the buckle to allow the belted occupant to exit the vehicle.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealer will replace the front seat belt buckles.

On certain vehicles, a Sensor Cluster Unit (SCU) having incorrect programming may have been installed in error by dealers during servicing. As the SCU helps determine if the driver and/or passenger airbags, seat belt pretensioners and active head restraints should be deployed during a crash, incorrect programming could result in an inadequate activation of one or more of these restraint systems in a crash. This could increase the risk of injury to occupants.
DEFECT: THE (Takata) ABS PLASTIC FRONT SEAT BELT RELEASE BUTTONS ON THESE VEHICLES MAY BREAK ALLOWING PLASTIC PIECES TO FALL INTO THE BUCKLE ASSEMBLY. IF THIS SHOULD HAPPEN, A NO LATCH, FALSE LATCH OR FAILURE TO UNLATCH CONDITION COULD OCCUR CREATING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH OR SUDDEN STOP.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
FRONT SEAT BELT BUCKLES WILL BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED AS NECESSARY.

On certain Ranger SuperCab models, the front-passenger seat belt may not be assembled correctly.
Safety Risk

Remedy
Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their truck to a dealer to inspect the front-passenger seat belt. It will be replaced if necessary.

On certain vehicles, the screws securing the seat backrest and lower seat belt anchor to the passenger front seat may be incorrectly installed or missing due to a manufacturing process error. In the event of a crash, the seat and seatbelt may not work as intended, which could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the screws that secure the seat backrest and the lower seat belt anchor on the passenger front seat.
On certain vehicles, the second row right-hand seat may have been manufactured incorrectly. Improper weld penetration between the head restraint guide sleeve tube and the seat back frame could allow the headrest to fail during a rear-end vehicle crash, increasing the risk of injury to the seat occupant.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the seat back frame for the second row right-hand seat.

On certain vehicles, the front passenger seat belt assembly may contain a defective automatic locking retractor (ALR). As a result, the seat belt may not properly lock to secure a child seat.
Safety Risk
A seat belt that is not properly locked could prevent a child seat from being properly secured, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
Remedy
Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the seat belt. It will be replaced, if necessary.

Certain vehicles equipped with an adjustable lumbar support and a 40/20/40 split bench seat or captain's chair bucket seat configuration, may have improper welds at the joint of the seat back pivot bracket and the seat back frame. If the weld fractures while the vehicle is in motion, the seat back may recline unexpectedly. The occupant could lose contact with the steering wheel or foot pedals during such an event, which could increase the risk of a crash.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will install a reinforcement to the seat back frame.

On certain vehicles, the fastener that attaches the rear seat belt might have been improperly assembled. If this condition were present, in the event of a vehicle crash with high loads on the belt attachment, the seat belt end fitting could separate and fail to properly restrain the occupant. This would increase the risk of injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the seat belt fastener and repair if necessary.
