On certain vehicles, the head of the screw securing the rear struts to the chassis may tear off. The remaining portion of the screw (stud, or shaft) will still hold the strut in place. However, if left unattended over a longer period of time, and depending on driving conditions, the stud/shaft may break. If this occurred, the chassis would lean directly on the tire, diminishing the driver's ability to control the vehicle. Depending on traffic conditions and the driver's reactions, this could lead to a crash.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealer will replace the lower screw connection of the rear struts.

Certain vehicles operated in areas of heavy road de-icing material usage (Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador) may experience excessive corrosion in the vicinity of the left or right forward mounting point bracket for the rear suspension lower link, prior to the time that such corrosion would normally be expected. In certain cases, excessive corrosion in this vicinity may result in the left or right rear suspension lower link bracket becoming detached from the frame, which can affect vehicle handling and potentially cause a crash resulting in property damage or personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Inspection and repairs will be provided free of charge for vehicles that are ten years old or less. For vehicles over ten years old, GM of Canada will offer the same free remedy, but only if the vehicle is presented to a GM dealer no later than twelve (12) months after the owner notification letter mailing date.

On certain vehicles, the front suspension coil springs may have received insufficient corrosion protection during manufacturing and, in areas where road salt is used, may be susceptible to corrosion. Additionally, rubber sleeves were applied near the top and bottom of some springs to eliminate noise. The sleeves can trap salt water, increasing the potential for excessive corrosion. Over time, excessive corrosion can cause spring failure. Spring breakage in the bottom sleeve area could puncture the tire.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace both front coil springs.

Certain vehicles were produced with lower control arm ball stud nut/washer assemblies with washers made of the wrong steel material. The washers may fracture and become loose or fall away from the vehicle, reducing clamp load. Separation of the control arm ball stud and steering knuckle, due to disengagement of the tapered attachment and retaining nut, is possible and may occur without prior indication to the vehicle operator. If the control arm separates from the knuckle, the affected corner of the vehicle will drop and the control arm would be forced downward, contacting the wheel. The affected wheel could tilt outward and create a dragging action that would tend to slow the vehicle and create a tendency for the vehicle to turn in the direction of the affected wheel. In extreme situations, the affected wheel assembly could separate from the vehicle. Separation of the wheel assembly would also sever that wheel's hydraulic brake hose and result in diminished braking performance of the vehicle, which could result in a crash.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will install a new nut and washer, and if required, replace the ball stud and/or steering knuckle.
On certain vehicles, the upper forward and/or rear drive axle seat may break potentially allowing the affected axle to shift out of alignment. This condition could result in loss of axle stability and potential for vehicle crash.
Safety Risk

Safety Risk
If the ball joint separates, steering control may be lost, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front lower control arms, free of charge. The recall began on July 31, 2017. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500. Mazda's number for this recall is 1117E.

On certain vehicles, the front left lower control arm pivot bolt may not have been properly hardened during the manufacturing process. This could cause the front left lower control arm pivot bolt to break, which could affect vehicle handling and control, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the front left lower control arm and replace it as necessary.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2023 Explorer vehicles. The right-front lower fastener connecting the steering knuckle and strut may be loose or missing.
Safety Risk
A loose or missing connection between the knuckle and strut can cause improper tire alignment, resulting in a steering pull or require increased steering effort. Additionally, the brake hose may contact the tire and become damaged, resulting in a brake fluid leak and a loss of braking ability. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the fasteners, and tighten or install them as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 08, 2024. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S04.
