On certain Garmin nüvi 750 GPS units purchased as a customer or dealer installed accessory at Nissan dealerships, the lithium-ion batteries may contain a defect that may cause them to overheat and cause a fire.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will direct customers who have an affected unit to the Garmin Web site, which explains how to verify if their units are involved and includes procedures to follow for product exchange.
On certain vehicles equipped with a Heated Washer Fluid System (HWFS), a short circuit on the printed circuit board for the washer fluid heater may overheat the control-circuit ground wire. A repair was implemented in a recall in 2008, however, there have been new reports of thermal incidents on heated washer fluid system modules after this improvement was installed. This situation may cause some minor distortion, but also could lead to melting of the plastic around the heated washer fluid system, or cause a fire.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will permanently disable and remove the heated washer fluid module. An updated page will be provided and inserted in the Owner Manual to document the removal of the feature.
On certain vehicles, the integral clip-tabs on the hood louver may fracture, which could allow the hood louver to lose its retention mechanism. As the clip-tabs break, the hood louver may rattle against the hood and become loose. If this indicator is unnoticed, additional clips could fracture and the hood louver could detach from the vehicle and strike a vehicle or a bystander, which could result in property damage, personal injury or death.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will apply an adhesive to the hood louver to secure it to the hood.
On certain vehicles, if the Toyota optional accessory "tray-type" floor mat is not secured by the retaining hooks, or if it is placed on top of an existing floor mat, the "tray-type" floor mat could move forward and interfere with the accelerator pedal. This could result in a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
The manufacturer will notify owners to remove the "tray-type" floor mat and provide instructions on how to obtain a reimbursement.
Certain motorcycles equipped with Kawasaki genuine accessory saddlebags may not comply with CMVSS 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. When the saddlebags are installed, the rear reflectors become obscured. This could render the vehicle less visible to other motorists during hours of darkness, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash causing personal injury or death.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will install reflectors to the side of each accessory saddlebag.
The accessory FJR13 saddlebags cover the original units rear reflectors and must therefore have a reflector installed on each saddlebag lid. The saddlebag kit is supplied with red reflectors that your dealer is required to install during the Pre-delivery service. However, certain motorcycles have been released without having the reflectors installed. This situation results in the motorcycle not being in compliance with Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, and the reduced conspicuity could result in an accident causing injury or death.
On certain short wheel base mini vans the D-pillar mastic sound barrier patch can loosen and drop into the rear outboard seat belt assembly, causing the seat belt to become inoperative. In the event of a collision, the seat occupant may not be properly restrained, increasing the risk of personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the mastic patches with foam blockers and inspect and replace all 3rd row seat belt assemblies.
Certain passenger vehicles equipped with a Nissan-approved accessory floor mat, which was installed either at the assembly plant or by the dealer. Due to the length of the driver side floor mat, a small amount of mat movement could cause the mat to interfere with the accelerator pedal and not allow the pedal to release after it is depressed. If this occurs unexpectedly, it could lead to a crash.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the driver side floor mat and if it is a Nissan floor mat subject to this recall, the dealer will replace both the driver and passenger side floor mats.
Certain passenger vehicles equipped with a 1.8-liter engine. The engine could stop running while being driven due to a defective crank position sensor. This could also result in the "service engine soon" warning light coming on or reduced engine power. If the engine stops running while driving, this could result in a crash.
Equipment Description: Towing hitch kits and aftermarket trailer towing wire harness converters. Due to inadequate waterproofing performance and improper installation location of the converter, which is mounted on the exterior of the vehicle, an electrical short circuit could occur if water enters the converter housing. The short circuit can cause a failure of the converter, and if a trailer is being towed at the time, can also cause failure of the trailer lights.
On certain vehicles equipped with adjustable pedal option, the driver floor mat could interfere with the accelerator pedal. This can result in a stuck throttle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace both front driver and passenger side floor mats in the vehicle.
On certain motorcycles, the ribbed chrome accessory footpegs have a casting flaw which can cause the footpeg shaft to break off, leaving no support for the driver's foot. Footpeg breakage could cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle with the potential for an accident resulting in injury or death.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
The dealer will replace the footpegs with the original Kawasaki footpeg.
Certain vehicles do not comply with the requirements of CMVSS 118 - Power-operated windows, power-operated partitions and power-operated roof panels. If the key is placed in the "accessory" position and remains there for more than 70 seconds, the vehicle delayed accessory relay remains active when the ignition switch is moved to the "off" position, and the vehicle front door is opened. Under this condition, all accessories connected to the accessory relay, including the power windows, remain operable.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will reconfigure the vehicle front end electronic module.
On certain vehicles operated in areas of high salt use, the spare tire hoist cable may corrode and eventually break. This would allow the spare tire to fall off the vehicle possibly resulting in a road hazard for other vehicles.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
A letter will be sent to owners of affected vehicles with maintenance and inspection instructions for spare tire hoist cable assemblies. Additionally, the letter will advise the owner that, if the cable breaks during that inspection, their dealer will repair the assembly. This policy will be in effect until December 31, 2002.
DEFECT: UNDER BUMPY CONDITIONS, A TOOL MAY FALL OUT OF THE TOOL BAG UNDER THE SEAT AND DROP THROUGH THE SMALL OPENING AT THE BASE OF THE COMPARTMENT. THIS COULD RESULT IN A TOOL BECOMING LODGED IN ONE OF THE MOVING PARTS OF THE DRIVE TRAIN, POSSIBLY CAUSING THE REAR WHEEL TO LOCK UP, RESULTING IN A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE MOTORCYCLE.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
THE TOOL KIT BAG AND RETAINING STRAP WILL BE REPLACED AND A PARTITION WILL BE ADDED TO THE FRONT OF THE COMPARTMENT TO BLOCK THE PASSAGE OF OBJECTS STORED IN THIS COMPARTMENT.

OWNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AS TO HOW THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK SYSTEM ACTUALLY OPERATES AND REQUESTED TO ALERT OTHERS THAT MAY USE THEIR CAR.
Certain C1500, C3500, K1500 and K3500 vehicles may have below specified torque on the optional trailer hitch attaching fasteners. This could allow the trailer hitch to move under towing loads and eventually lead to failure of the fasteners. If this occurs while a trailer is being pulled, the hitch and trailer could separate and a crash could occur without prior warning.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Trailer hitch will be inspected for evidence of hitch movement and if movement has occurred, the fasteners will be replaced and correctly torqued. If no movement has occurred, the attaching fasteners will be tightened to the specified torque.
DUE TO A DESIGN DEFECT IN THE THREAD PROFILE OF THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT CAR JACK, THE JACK MAY BE UNABLE TO SUSTAIN THE VEHICLE IN THE LIFTED POSITION AND IT COULD THEREFORE LOWER ITSELF. THIS COULD RESULT IN INJURY TO PERSONS USING THE JACK.
