Hyundai Auto Canada is conducting a Product Improvement Campaign that provides an update to the engine control module to detect potential problems before an engine fails. An engine failure would cause a sudden loss of power with an inability to restart.
Note: This affects Sonata and Santa Fe Sport equipped with a 2.4 L GDI or 2.0 L Turbo GDI engine, as well as Tucson equipped with a 2.4 L GDI engine.
Safety Risk
A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of an accident.
Remedy
The company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to update the software for the engine control module. Note: Vehicles previously repaired under Product Improvement Campaign R0153 (TC # 2019-130) do not require this software update.
Owners can find additional information at www.hyundaiengineinfo.ca.

On certain vehicles, the body control module (BCM) may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the trailer taillights may not work when towing a trailer.
Note: This problem could cause a trailer error message to display in the instrument cluster and various electrical systems not to work properly.
Safety Risk
Trailer taillights that don't work could make the vehicle less visible to others and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the BCM.

On certain FWD Santa Fe Sport vehicles equipped with a 2.4L engine, the passenger side axle shaft could fail. This could result in a loss of vehicle propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver’s reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. This could also allow the vehicle to roll away if parked on a sufficient slope, despite the transmission shift lever being set in the PARK position. Both issues could result in property damage and/or personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the right front axle shaft assembly.

On certain vehicles, the driver may not be able to control the windshield defrosting/defogging system and/or hazard lights using the interaction bar on the dashboard. Additionally, the control buttons may not light up when pressed.
Safety Risk
A windshield that can't be defogged or defrosted can reduce visibility. Hazard lights that don't work could make the vehicle less visible. Both could increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
BMW will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the interaction bar.

On certain motorcycles, the throttle cable retention nuts may not have been adequately tightened during vehicle assembly. Should they loosen, the throttle may be prevented from opening or closing normally. This could result in a loss of vehicle propulsion or make it difficult to slow or stop the motorcycle unless the clutch lever is depressed. Depending on traffic and road conditions, and the rider’s reactions, either issue could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will tighten the throttle cable retention nuts to the specified torque.
A certain vehicle may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. The basic setting of the low beam headlamps may deviate from the tolerance range that is required by the standard. Headlight performance could be reduced, potentially increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the basic setting of headlamps, and correct if necessary.

On certain Crosstrek Hybrid models, the harness terminal that supplies low-voltage power from the converter to the 12 V battery could corrode. Over time, the terminal could break and cause the 12 V battery not to charge. If this happens, the vehicle could suddenly lose drive power.
Safety Risk
A loss of power may increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Subaru will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the converter terminal mounting bracket. The dealer will also inspect the 12 V output terminals. If there is no corrosion, the dealer will install a protective cap on the terminals. If corrosion is found, the dealer will replace the 12 V output harness and terminals.

On certain vehicles, defective brake line connections could cause brake fluid to leak from connection points. Over time, this would cause the brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir to become low, illuminating the low fluid level warning light. If the vehicle is operated in this condition, reduced brake function may result, extending stopping distances and increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace affected brake lines.
