On certain vehicles, if the driver assist system were to become disabled due to a brake light switch failure, the system could fail to inform the driver that the automatic braking, adaptive cruise control and pre-collision braking systems are disabled. This could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will reprogram the driver assist system.

Under certain conditions, the parking lamps could flicker. As a result, the parking lights could be difficult to see. Canadian regulations require the parking lamps to stay on constantly when the headlights are turned on.
Note: This recall only affects vehicles with LED parking lamps.
Safety Risk
Parking lamps that do not work properly could make the vehicle less visible to others and could increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to reprogram the LED driver module (LDM).

Certain vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 126 - Electronic Stability Control Systems. Certain brake Hydraulic Control Units (HCU) may contain metallic debris, which could reduce pump performance and affect Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and may cause the system fail to meet the requirements of the standard. If metallic debris is present, particles may block a pressure valve in the HCU during operation. This could result in a driver experiencing degraded performance of the ESC and related brake systems without warning, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will remove and replace the brake HCU.

On certain trucks, a connector for the tail lights may not be properly connected. This could cause intermittent or total loss of the tail lights, including the stop, turn, rear position, and reverse lights.
Note: This problem can cause the turn signal indicators to flash quickly or intermittently. Additionally, the following messages may appear on the instrument display: “Trailer not connected” or “Parking Aid Malfunction”.
Safety Risk
A loss of tail lights could reduce the vehicle’s visibility. This could cause a following driver not to see that a vehicle is braking, reversing or intends to turn. This could increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to inspect underbody inline connection of the tail lights. It will be repaired as necessary.

On certain 323I, 328I and M3 vehicles, non-crash impacts with a significant vertical and/or longitudinal component, such as experienced when contacting large potholes or curbs at substantial speed, could cause the lateral airbag and head protection system (HPS) to deploy inadvertently.
On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the driver-front airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function.
Safety Risk
If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury.
Remedy
Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to have the driver-front airbag module replaced.
Note: The Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected.
THE WALL OF THE FILLER HOSE, WHICH CONNECTS THE FUEL TANK TO A METAL TUBE, MAY HAVE BEEN CUT THROUGH DURING ASSEMBLY. THIS COULD RESULT IN FUEL LEAKAGE AND THE RISK OF A FIRE.

On certain vehicles, the compliance label indicates the vehicle type in the unilingual text "PASSENGER CAR" instead of using text in both official languages, or using the bilingual abbreviation "PC/VT".
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
No corrective recall action is required as the technical non-compliance is deemed to be non-safety related.
On certain vehicles, the flange that attaches the fuel filter to the tank could eventually develop a crack and allow fuel to leak. Although any such leakage would be in an area where vehicle temperatures are too low for ignition, fuel leakage, in the presence of an external ignition source, could result in a fire causing property damage and/or personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the fuel filter.
On certain vehicles, the diagnostic software in the Central Electronic Module (CEM) may cause a malfunction of the windshield wiper functionality. If this occurs, the windshield wipers may not operate when activated; or in certain cases the windshield wipers may activate when not switched on. Should this occur during a rainy/snowy day, it could increase the risk of a crash, causing property damage, personal injury or death.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will install updated CEM software.

On a small number of vehicles, the front axle shaft(s) may be too short. As a result, the nut that secures the front axle hub could become loose. If this happens, the steering wheel could become off-center and cause a loss of steering control.
Safety Risk
A loss of steering control could increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Bentley will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the front axle shafts.

Certain vehicles may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. The aluminum film applied to the inner reflector of the headlight may delaminate, potentially diminishing the output of the headlight. This could cause the vehicle to fail to comply with the requirements of CMVSS 108, and decrease driver visibility, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the headlights.

On certain vehicles, the steering wheel clock spring could become contaminated with long hair or long fibers which may cause a displacement of the internal guide loops. When the guide loops are dragged out of position, they may apply tension to the internal flat cable and cause it to tear. Should the cable tear, the electrical connection to the driver's front airbag may be lost, causing the airbag monitoring indicator light to illuminate. Failure of the driver's airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will install a cover of a different design to help prevent clock spring contamination caused by hair or other fibers. In instances where the vehicle has an airbag light on (and diagnosis confirms the steering wheel clock spring requires replacement), dealers will install a new steering wheel clock spring.

On certain vehicles, the headlamp driver module (HDM) may not operate properly in high underhood temperatures. If the HDM is not operating correctly, the low-beam headlamps and daytime running lamps could fail to illuminate. Loss of daytime running lamps and low-beam headlamps could result in decreased driver's vision, as well as rendering the vehicle less visible to other motorists, which could result in a crash causing injury and/or property damage.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the headlamp relay (HDM) located in the underhood bussed electrical centre (UBEC).
