On certain vehicles, the ring plate that secures the frontal passenger airbag cushion to the assembly housing may not have sufficient yield strength due to a manufacturing defect. This could cause the airbag cushion to separate from the ring plate when the airbag is deployed which could increase the risk of injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the front passenger side airbag module.

On certain vehicles, the inflator for the side curtain airbag could rupture at the inflator weld joint and cause the side curtain airbag to inflate without a crash.
Safety Risk
A side curtain airbag that inflates without a crash could create a risk of injury.
Remedy
General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the left and/or right-side curtain airbag(s).
On certain vehicles, the driver frontal airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the driver frontal airbag inflator.

This recall is for certain vehicles that had an airbag inflator replaced as a part of an earlier recall campaign. This recall provides a final repair.
Long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger-front airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function.
Safety Risk
If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury.
Remedy
Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect the passenger-front airbag module. The passenger-front airbag module will be replaced as necessary. Note: The Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected.

On certain vehicles, if the water drainage system of the panoramic sunroof becomes damaged or impaired (such as during a repair), water could enter the side head curtain airbag canister. Due to a foam that is touching the airbag inflator, moisture could cause corrosion on the airbag inflator over time. If this happens, the airbag canister could be weakened. This could cause the airbag canister to fracture without airbag deployment and allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the vehicle for evidence of water ingress, examine the drainage system, disassemble the headliner and trim, remove foam and inspect the side head curtain airbag canister for relevant corrosion. In cases where light surface corrosion is found, a wax will be applied to the inflator. In cases of more than light surface corrosion, the inflator will be replaced after a robustness check.

Certain vehicles with leather sport seats may be equipped with an incorrectly coded Passenger Occupant Detection System Control Module in the front passenger location. If the seat gets wet, the control module may not properly detect a child car seat secured on the front passenger seat, and the front passenger airbag will not be deactivated as expected. In this case, the airbag light will remain off indicating that the passenger airbag is active. If, despite safety warnings and provincial regulations, a child was placed in a child car seat secured in the passenger front position, the active airbag could deploy in a crash causing potential injury.
On certain vehicles, the software within the Passenger Sensing System may disable the front passenger airbag when it should be enabled or vice versa. Malfunction of the airbag system will increase the risk of personal injuries or death in certain crash conditions.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will reprogram the passenger sensing module.

On certain vehicles, electrical circuitry in the steering wheel assembly may become damaged. As a result, the driver's airbag may not function as intended, causing the instrument panel airbag warning lamp to illuminate. On certain trucks, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger-front airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function.
Note: This is an expansion of Mazda Recall 2118A (Transport Canada Recall No. 2018-039).
Safety Risk
If the truck is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury.
Remedy
Mazda will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle truck to a dealer to replace the passenger-front airbag inflator.
Note: The Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected.

On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury.

Remedy
Dealers will replace the passenger frontal airbag module.
On certain vehicles, when the front passenger seat is in the full forward position, the seat position sensor may cause a deployment delay between the first and second stages of the dual-stage front passenger airbag. On certain vehicles, the screws that attach the control unit for the supplemental restraint system (SRS) may not have been properly tightened. As a result, the SRS control unit may not work properly and could come loose in a crash. If this happens, the seat belt pretensioner(s), airbag systems and high-voltage battery disconnect may not work correctly.
Note: This problem may cause the SRS warning lamp to turn on and a "Service Urgent" message may display in the instrument cluster.
Safety Risk
A seat belt pretensioner, airbag system or high-voltage battery disconnect that does not work properly in a crash could create an increased risk of injury.
Remedy
Volvo will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the mounting screws for the SRS control unit. They will be tightened, if necessary.
