Certain vehicles fail to conform with CMVSS 118 - Power-operated Roof Panels. The subject vehicles may exhibit a condition where the sunroof can be closed after the ignition is turned off and the doors are opened. This can only occur if the engine is turned off and a front door opened, all within 60-seconds of starting the vehicle. Once 60-seconds elapses from starting of the engine, this condition will no longer exist. For example, if the engine is started and run for 40 seconds, and the operator turns it off and exits the vehicle, the condition will only exist for the remaining 20 seconds.

Remedy
No remedial action is required due to the unlikely-ness of such an occurrence.

On certain Monza 2+2, Skyhawk and Starfire vehicles, the strength of the conventional spare tire hold down "J" bolt may be inadequate in the event of a severe frontal collision. If such a collision occurs, the "J" bolt could straighten and the spare tire and wheel come loose and travel forward into the passenger area of the vehicle, increasing the possibility of occupant injury. Vehicles produced with the space-saver spare tire are also being included in this campaign even though the space-saver spare tire is stored in a well in the body.
THESE VEHICLES DO NOT COMPLY WITH C.M.V.S.S. 115 - VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER. THE TENTH POSITION OF THE V.I.N. IS STAMPED AS "T" (1996) INSTEAD OF "V" (1997) DUE TO AN ERROR ON THE ASSEMBLY LINE. NEVERTHELESS THE VEHICLES ARE AUTHENTIC 1997 MODELS.

Certain vehicles equipped with the "Keyless Go" option, fail to comply with the requirements of CMVSS 114 - Theft Protection and Rollaway. If the remote keyless entry transmitter is removed from the vehicle prior to pressing the stop/start button, the instrument cluster information center displays a "fobik not present" message, and if the stop/start button is pressed & held and the engine is turned off, the electronic key code is removed from the vehicle. Since this can occur in a transmission or gear selector position other than PARK, and the transmission does not become locked in PARK as a result of key removal, it is determined a noncompliance to the Standard.

On certain vehicles, the panoramic sunroof glass may have been damaged during an automated assembly procedure at the factory. This damage may result in subsequent fracture of the sunroof glass. Sunroof glass panel breakage, while the vehicle is in motion, could cause driver distraction, which could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Additionally, broken glass inside the vehicle poses a risk of injury to vehicle occupants.
Safety Risk

Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will adjust the left door Bowden cable.
