The 1995 Ducati 916 has 3 recalls, the most serious being a throttle cable defect that can cause the accelerator to stick partially open, leaving the rider unable to reduce engine speed and raising the risk of a crash.
A side stand spring plate can also break and allow the stand to drop and contact the ground while riding, which can suddenly destabilize the motorcycle and cause a loss of control. On the braking side, some motorcycles may be missing the required thread-locking adhesive on the rear brake disc and countershaft chain sprocket screws. Those screws can work loose, allowing the brake disc to shift and rub against the caliper support plate. The resulting interference reduces rear braking power, and the rider may notice unusual noise before brake performance degrades.
