On certain motorcycles, the combined brake system’s secondary master cylinder may cause the rear brakes to drag. Unexpected braking may adversely affect vehicle stability, which could result in a crash. As well, continued riding with the rear brake engaged/dragging may generate enough heat to cause the rear brake to catch fire. These issues could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Note: This recall is superseded by recall 2015488.

ON VEHICLES WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) THE THROTTLE/KICK-DOWN CABLE AND GEAR SELECTOR WIRE MAY COME LOOSE AND RUB AGAINST ANY OF THE THREE STEEL BRAKE LINES CONNECTED TO THE VALVE BLOCK OF THE ABS SYSTEM HYDRAULIC BRAKE UNIT. CHAFING DAMAGE COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID AND PARTIAL LOSS OF BRAKING FORCE WITH A SUBSEQUENT INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCE.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
ROUTING OF THE THROTTLE/KICK-DOWN CABLE WILL BE CHANGED AND A NEW ATTACHMENT BRACKET WILL BE INSTALLED. BRAKE LINES AND VALVE BLOCK WILL BE INSPECTED FOR CHAFING AND CHAFED BRAKE LINES WILL BE REPLACED.
On certain vehicles, the left-front steering knuckle could crack and/or break. A steering knuckle that breaks while driving could cause a sudden loss of vehicle control.
Safety Risk
A loss of vehicle control could increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Kia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the left-front steering knuckle. If the batch code stamped on the knuckle is within the affected range, it will be replaced.

On certain vehicles, brake lines connecting the master cylinder to the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit may be defective and could either leak, or restrict fluid flow in the brake line. This would either cause a gradual loss of brake fluid and illuminate the brake warning lamp in the instrument panel, or restrict fluid flow to the brake calipers, which could illuminate the vehicle stability control warning lamp in the instrument cluster. Either condition could affect brake system function, potentially increasing stopping distances and the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the brake hoses with a revised part.

Continued vehicle operation can result in propeller shaft separation and damage to fuel system components, possibly resulting in an underbody vehicle fire.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealer will re-torque the transfer case to transmission fasteners.

Certain vehicles fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 102 - Transmission Control Functions, and CMVSS 114 - Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention. A fractured park lock cable, or a defective steering lock module, may have been installed during vehicle assembly. This could allow the driver to shift out of PARK with the key in the OFF position or removed from the ignition. As well, the transmission may be shifted out of PARK without first depressing the brake pedal. The key may also be rotated to the OFF position and removed while the shifter is not in PARK. These issues could result in unintended vehicle movement, which could cause a crash resulting in property damage and/or personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the steering column assembly.

Certain vehicles equipped with Intelligent Cruise Control may have ABS actuators that may have been manufactured out of specification. This could cause the ABS actuator pump seal to leak brake fluid. This would cause the ABS warning light to illuminate, and if ignored, and the vehicle continues to be operated in this condition, the brake fluid leak could create an electrical short in the actuator circuit. This could lead to a fire, which could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the ABS actuator, and will replace as necessary.

Certain vehicles fail to conform with CMVSS 118 - Power-operated Roof Panels. The subject vehicles may exhibit a condition where the sunroof can be closed after the ignition is turned off and the doors are opened. This can only occur if the engine is turned off and a front door opened, all within 60-seconds of starting the vehicle. Once 60-seconds elapses from starting of the engine, this condition will no longer exist. For example, if the engine is started and run for 40 seconds, and the operator turns it off and exits the vehicle, the condition will only exist for the remaining 20 seconds.
Safety Risk
