The driver would, however, be able to disengage the cruise control by other means such as; pushing the cruise control stalk towards the instrument cluster, or by applying adequate amount of brake pedal force to achieve a specified deceleration rate. Failure or delay in disengaging the cruise control can increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury.
Certain vehicles may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 208 - Occupant Protection in Frontal Impacts. Due to an assembly error involving the driver’s frontal airbag, the second stage of the airbag may to fail to deploy. As a result, the vehicle may fail to meet the occupant protection requirements of the standard. This could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant in a crash where second-stage airbag deployment is warranted.
