On certain motorcycles, if the rider does not up-shift correctly, the transmission could shift to neutral and allow the engine speed to increase. If the rider tried to recover from the missed shift by upshifting without disengaging the clutch, a very large torque would be applied to the drive sprocket, causing the drive chain to experience a very high tension and potentially damaging the left-side drive chain adjuster. Damage to the drive chain adjuster could cause the drive chain to come off, resulting in a loss of motive power. This could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the drive chain adjuster with an improved part.

Certain vehicles may experience a sudden loss of power steering assist that could occur at any time while driving. If the power steering assist is lost, a message is displayed on the Driver Information Centre and a chime sounds to inform the driver. The sudden change in steering may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the power steering assist motor.

Certain vehicles may have received incorrect module coding updates between December 3rd, 2016 and December 5th, 2016 during vehicle servicing. Depending on which vehicle control unit was improperly coded, the potential malfunctions could differ. In some cases, the improper coding could potentially affect functions of the Electronic Stability Control system (ESC), such as the HOLD function, or the trailer stabilization, and the distance control unit assistance system. In other cases, certain airbag control unit functions could be affected, such as the seat belt buckle status not being properly recognized. Furthermore another potential result of the incorrect coding, is that some powertrain scopes could be affected, which could lead to an engine failure or the loss of the speed limiter function. These conditions could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will update the coding of the affected control units.
On certain vehicles, the rear seat safety belt latch attachment bolt may be insufficiently riveted, which could result in a reduced capability of the belt latch to withstand the applied loads. During a crash, the occupant may not be restrained as intended, which could result in injuries.

Remedy
Dealers will repair/replace the rear shock absorber.

On certain trucks, the t-bolts for the transmission air tank straps may have been over-tightened. This could cause the straps to deform and allow the air tank to drop to the ground. If the air tank detaches, the transmission would not shift.
Safety Risk
An air tank that completely detaches from the truck could create a road hazard for others. A transmission that does not shift properly could increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Volvo will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their truck to a dealer to inspect the transmission air tank straps for damage. The straps will be replaced as required.
