Mazda North America Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain 2024 CX-90 vehicles. An assembly issue with the worm gear in the steering system may result in a sudden loss of power steering assist.

Remedy
Dealers will replace the spring engaging the worm gear and reapply grease to the gear teeth, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 6, 2024. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500 Option 6. Mazda's number for this recall is 6524A.

Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling one 2020 VNL truck. The steering gear assembly may have been assembled incorrectly with fewer recirculating balls than are required, which may result in a loss of steering control.

Remedy

On a small number of electric motorcycles, the steering shaft may not be strong enough. Under certain conditions (like hitting a curb or a large pothole), the steering shaft could break and cause a loss of steering control.

BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2024 2 Series Coupe (230i), 330i, X3 sDrive30i, X3 xDrive30i, X3 M40i, and X4 xDrive30i, X4 M40i vehicles. The steering gear may not have been tightened properly, which can allow it to loosen.

A loose steering gear can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the steering gear, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 11, 2024. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

On certain vehicles, the incorrect steering gear box assembly may have been installed during a repair. As a result, the tires could become damaged by contact with the chassis and fail.

Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2024 VNL, VHD, and VNR trucks. The fastener that connects two steering components, the pitman arm and draglink, may be loose, which can cause the connection to fail and result in a loss of steering control.

On certain trucks, the castle nut connecting the steering arm to the drag link may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the nut could loosen and separate, causing a loss of steering control.

Volvo Trucks will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to inspect and re-tighten the castle nut.
On certain vehicles, the left and/or right tie rod(s) may not be strong enough. Under certain conditions (like hitting a curb or a large pothole), the tie rod(s) could bend and/or break and cause a partial loss of steering control.

Remedy
Nissan will notify owners by mail. Due to a parts supply issue, Nissan will advise you to take your vehicle to the dealership only if you experience a vibration in the steering wheel or if the steering wheel is off-center. When enough parts are available, Nissan will re-notify owners and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the left and right tie rods.

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, and GMC Sierra 2500, 3500 vehicles. The steering gear shaft may fracture and disconnect from the steering arm.

A steering arm that disconnects may result in a total loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the steering gear, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 22, 2023. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N232414720.
On certain vehicles, a problem with the torque sensor in the electric power steering (EPS) system could cause a loss of power steering assist.
Note: Vehicles that were inspected under Transport Canada recall 2022-527 also require this inspection. Vehicles that had the steering column replaced are not affected by this recall.

Nissan will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the lot code on the steering column torque sensor. The steering column assembly will be replaced, as needed.
On certain vehicles, the intermediate steering shaft may not have been assembled correctly. As a result, the steering shaft could separate from the universal joint and cause a loss of steering.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2023 Bronco Wildtrak and 2022 Bronco Raptor vehicles. Internal damage to the steering gear may require increased steering effort or cause the steering wheel to lock-up.

Remedy

On certain vehicles, the bolt that attaches the steering wheel may not have been properly tightened or may not have been installed. As a result, the steering wheel could loosen or detach and cause a loss of steering control.

Nissan will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the steering wheel bolt. Nissan also advises to inspect the steering wheel by gently moving it forward and back. If the steering wheel feels loose, you should stop using the vehicle immediately and contact a Nissan dealership to arrange towing.
Volvo Car USA, LLC (Volvo Car) is recalling certain 2019-2022 V60CC, XC60, and XC90 vehicles. During steering gear assembly, double screws may have been assembled on top of each other, which can cause a screw to fall into the gearbox housing.
Safety Risk
A screw inside the gearbox housing can cause the steering wheel to lock up and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the steering gear, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 1, 2023. Owners may contact Volvo Car's customer service at 1-800-458-1552. Volvo Car's number for this recall is R10213.
On certain vehicles, the screw that attaches the steering coupling may not have been properly tightened. As a result, the steering coupling could detach from the steering shaft and cause a loss of steering control.
Note: This problem may cause looseness in the steering or noises while driving on rough roads.
