On certain vehicles, the pressure control solenoid valve seals in the automatic transmission are not sufficiently elastic. This could result in automatic transmission fluid leakage at the pressure control solenoid valve interface to the valve body. This fluid leakage results in reduced pressure application to the internal transmission friction elements, which allows them to slip. Slippage of the friction elements can cause premature deterioration of the friction element surfaces and may cause the vehicle not to accelerate, or not to accelerate as expected, when the driver presses the accelerator pedal.

On certain vehicles, the nut that attaches the steering wheel assembly to the steering column may be upside down in the steering wheel assembly. This could overstress the steering column shaft when the nut is tightened. In addition, the nut may have been cracked during manufacture, which could result in the nut fracturing when it is tightened during vehicle assembly. Either of these conditions could potentially lead to the steering wheel becoming loose or separating from the steering column. This could result in loss of steering control and a crash without prior warning.

This recall is for rear shock absorber kits that were installed before delivery or sold as a dealer accessory. On certain motorcycles, the screw that attaches the rear shock absorber adjuster could break. If this happens, the shock absorber adjuster could move and damage the rear tire. This could lead to a sudden loss of air pressure and a tire failure. On certain vehicles, repeated flexing of the Passenger Sensing System mat in the front passenger seat may cause the mat to kink, bend, or fold. This flexing can break the connections in the mat. If this occurs, the front passenger airbag could become disabled. If the airbag becomes disabled, the passenger airbag status indicator on the rearview mirror will show that the airbag is OFF, the AIR BAG indicator will be illuminated, and a SERVICE AIR BAG message will appear in the Driver Information Centre. Failure of the passenger airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injuries to the seat occupant.
