On certain vehicles, the power steering system may fail due to the loss of power steering fluid. A fitting on the high-pressure power steering line at the connection to the pump may not have been sufficiently torqued during the production process. Over time this may result in the fitting backing-off which could cause a loss of power steering fluid. A loss of power steering could result in a vehicle crash.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, tighten the connection fitting. The O-ring seal will be replaced as a precautionary measure in all cases where the connection fitting shows evidence of loosening.
On certain vehicles, the cotter pin that secures the brake booster pushrod to the brake pedal may not have been installed. As a result, the pushrod could detach from the pedal and cause a loss of brakes.
Note: This recall doesn't affect the Transit MPV model.
Safety Risk
A loss of brakes can create the risk of a crash.
Remedy
To reduce the safety risk, Ford advises you not to drive your vehicle until the recall repairs are completed. Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to contact a dealer to arrange for an inspection. The dealer will repair the brake booster assembly, as necessary.

On certain vehicles, due to improper manufacturing, the electrical resistance inside the impact sensor for the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) air bag system may have increased. As a result, abnormal communication may be detected by the ECU causing the SRS warning lamp to illuminate. If a vehicle is involved in a collision that warrants front, side, and/or curtain air bag deployment when the SRS warning lamp is illuminated, frontal air bag deployment could be delayed and/or the side and curtain air bag may not deploy. Failure of an airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the SRS impact sensor with a countermeasure unit.

On certain police motorcycles equipped with Anti-Lock Brake Systems (ABS), inconsistencies in the routing of the brake lines can cause abrasion of the brake lines and hoses. In some cases, this condition has caused brake fluid leaks. Loss of brake fluid could lead to a loss of brake function, which could result in a crash causing personal injuries or death.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the brake lines. Brake line retention and clutch cable positioning devices will also be installed to prevent future abrasion to the brake lines.

On certain vehicles operated where road salts are frequently used, excessive corrosion of the spare tire carrier assembly cable may cause the separation of the spare tire stowed under the vehicle. Spare tire falling on the road surface creates a safety hazard that may result in a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and, as required, either apply a corrosion resistance enhancement treatment to the spare tire carrier restraint cable, repair the cable and apply the corrosion resistance treatment, or replace the spare tire carrier assembly.
