General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV vehicles. The passenger side instrument panel top cover on the affected vehicles may have been manufactured using an incorrect spacer fabric, causing a reduction of adhesion between the spacer fabric and the vinyl show surface. This reduced adhesion may result in inconsistent passenger air bag deployment. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
Safety Risk
Inconsistent air bag deployment increases the risk of personal injury in the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment.
Remedy
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the instrument panel top cover, free of charge. The recall began on November 11, 2014. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is 14686.

On certain vehicles, the steering column assembly housing may come into contact with the power steering printed circuit board. This contact could eventually cause enough wear on the power steering printed circuit board to cause a sudden loss of power steering assist. If the power steering assist is lost, a malfunction indicator light is displayed on the instrument panel to inform the driver. Steering control can be maintained, as the vehicle will revert to a manual steering mode, but will require greater driver effort particularly at low vehicle speeds. The sudden change in steering effort may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect, and if necessary, replace the steering column assembly.

Certain vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 135 - Brake Systems. During the manufacturing process, the parking brake controller assembly bracket may have been improperly formed. This could result in the pawl to not engage the sector gear during actuation and the parking brake not fully engaging. If the transmission is in Park, there will be no unintended vehicle movement. If the transmission is left in a gear other than Park, and the vehicle is parked on a sufficient slope, a non-functioning parking brake could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect, and if necessary, replace the parking brake control assembly.

On certain vehicles, the nuts used to anchor seat belt buckles of the second row seat may not have been manufactured correctly. The screw threads in the nuts may be missing. The seat belt buckles could separate from the seat assembly during a vehicle crash. If a separation occurred in a crash, seat occupants may not be properly restrained, increasing the risk of personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace second row seats.

On certain vehicles, the lap end attachment fastener on the front passenger seat belt may not have been torqued to proper specification. If the tightening torque of the fastener is too low, road vibrations could cause the fastener to loosen further. If this were to occur, the fastener may not properly restrain the front passenger occupant in the event of a crash, which could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant in a crash.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the torque value of the front passenger seat belt lap end attachment, and correct as necessary.

THE ENGINE COOLING FAN MAY BECOME FROZEN IN PLACE BY SNOW, ICE OR SLUSH. IF THIS OCCURS AND THE COOLING FAN IS ACTIVATED, EITHER AUTOMATICALLY TO REDUCE COOLANT TEMPERATURE OR WHEN THE DEFROSTER IS TURNED ON, THE COOLING FAN WILL NOT ROTATE AND CAN OVERHEAT.
