THE RECLINER MECHANISM AND THE SEAT FRAME MAY HAVE FOAM AND/OR VINYL VETWEEN THEM, CREATING A "SOFT" JOINT. THIS "SOFT" JOINT RESULTS IN LOWER THAN SPECIFIED BOLT TORQUE WHICH LEADS TO JOINT LOOSENESS, CAUSING BOLT FATIGUE AND EVENTUAL BOLT FAILURE.
Safety Risk
IF BOLT FAILURE OCCURS TO THE DRIVER'S SEAT, IT WOULD ALLOW THE SEAT BACK TO SUDDENLY RECLINE, AND COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL REMOVE THE FOAM AND/OR VINYL FROM BETWEEN THE RECLINER MECHANISM AND THE SEAT FRAME "SOFT" JOINT AND REPLACE THE RECLINER BOLTS.
Certain King Cab vehicles. Wires in the harness routed through the rear doors and into the body may break due to over bending of the harness as the door is opened and closed. On the left side, the harness contains wires for the driver seatbelt pretensioner, and on the right side the harness contains wires for the front passenger seatbelt pretensioner and for the seatbelt tension sensor, which is part of the occupant classification system. Wires for the rear audio speakers are also contained in the harness on each side. If the wires for the seatbelt pretensioner and speaker break and make contact, there is a possibility that the pretensioner may deploy. If this happens when the seatbelt is retracted, it will not be possible to use the seatbelt. If one of the wires in the right side harness for the seatbelt tension sensor breaks, the passenger side front airbag will not deploy as designed in a frontal crash.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the wiring harness with an updated version.
On certain vehicles equipped with power front passenger seats, the "end stops" on the seat frame rails may be missing. If the end stops are missing, the maximum allowable seat travel may be exceeded, resulting in an increased injury risk for out of position occupants in the event of a frontal collision.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the front seat rails for the presence of an "end stop", and install one if necessary.

Certain vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 207 – Anchorage of Seats. The seat track, located on the inboard side of the left second row seat, may not fully lock in the forward first and second adjustment positions. If this were to occur, the seat anchorage could fail to meet the strength requirements of the standard. This could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE FRONT SEAT BELT MAY INTERFERE WITH THE MANUAL SEAT BACK RECLINER KNOB AND COULD CAUSE THE FRONT MANUAL SEAT BACK RECLINER TO INADVERTENTLY RELEASE.
Safety Risk
THE INADVERTENT RELEASE OF A FRONT SEAT BACK RECLINER MAY RESULT IN INJURY TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE MANUAL SEAT BACK RECLINER KNOB(S) FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 14, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HYUNDAI AT 1-800-633-5151.
IN CERTAIN TYPES OF FRONTAL CRASHES, THE FRONT SEAT BELT MAY SLIP BETWEEN THE SEAT BOTTOM FINISHER AND THE SEAT BACK PLASTIC RECLINER HANDLE WHERE IT MIGHT BE CUT BY THE SHARP EDGE OF THE METAL PORTION OF THE RECLINER LEVER. IF THE SEAT BELT IS COMPLETELY SEVERED, IT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY TO AN OCCUPANT IN A CRASH.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
THE PLASTIC RECLINER HANDLE AT THE END OF THE SEAT BACK RECLINING LEVER FOR EACH FRONT SEAT WILL BE REPLACED WITH ONE OF A DIFFERENT SHAPE WHICH PREVENTS THE SEAT BELT FROM SLIPPING BETWEEN THE HANDLE AND THE SEAT.
On certain vehicles, the passenger seat belt assemblies may contain defective automatic locking retractors (ALR). As a result, the seat belts may not properly lock to secure a child seat.
Safety Risk
A seat belt that is not properly locked could increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Remedy
The company will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the seat belts. They will be replaced, if necessary.

On certain vehicles, the front seat shoulder belts may twist, allowing the webbing to become jammed in the retractor. When the shoulder belt webbing becomes jammed in the retractor, the belt may be unuseable. In a vehicle crash, an unbelted occupant may receive more severe injuries.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect for the presence of updated front shoulder belt bezels and where necessary, install new front seat shoulder belt opening bezel kits.

On certain vehicles, an intermittent short circuit in the air bag initiator wire that occurs between 1.5 to 1.7 seconds after vehicle start-up (or "key on") may lead to an inadvertent air bag deployment. This short is caused by an unprotected metal sharp edge where the clockspring wire passes through the lower instrument panel.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
An electrical diagnostic check will be performed and any short circuits will be repaired. In addition, a mastic patch will be added to the lower instrument panel to prevent chafing of the clockspring wire. If the air bag warning light is illuminated due to a rear wiper motor short circuit condition, the shorted motor will be disconnected and the fuse replaced.

THE POWER SEAT OR RECLINER WIRING HARNESS CAN BE PINCHED OR CAN CHAFE ON THE SEAT FRAME OR SPRING SUPPORT ROD, WEARING THROUGH THE WIRE INSULATION AND CAUSING AN ELECTRICAL SHORT.
Safety Risk
THE HIGH CURRENT CAUSED BY THE ELECTRICAL SHORT WELDS THECIRCUIT BREAKER ELEMENTS TOGETHER IN THE CLOSED POSITION, LEAVING THE CIRCUITUNPROTECTED AND GENERATING SUFFICIENT HEAT TO BURN THE WIRE INSULATION ANDIGNITE THE SEAT CUSHION MATERIAL.
Remedy
REPAIR ANY ABRADED WIRING AND REROUTE THE WIRING HARNESS USING A WIRING HARNESS CLIP.
Certain vehicles may have been assembled with faulty seat track assemblies. Specifically, the driver's inboard, and the passenger's outboard seat tracks, may have undersized slots in two locations. This may result in the manual seat pawl not fully engaging in those slots. Should the vehicle be involved in a crash, occupants of front seats with affected seat tracks would be exposed to an increased risk of personal injury or death.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the entire seat assembly.
