THE HYDRAULIC PARKING BRAKE CONTROL VALVE MAY INADVERTENTLY ACTIVATE DUE TO MOMENTARY PRESSURE DISRUPTION IN THE HYDRAULIC PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM, RESULTING IN THE APPLICATION OF THE REAR AXLE BRAKES. SHOULD THIS OCCUR WHILE THE VEHICLE IS BEING OPERATED ON A SLIPPERY OR LOOSE-MATERIAL ROAD SURFACE, THE POTENTIAL FOR LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL WOULD EXIST. ALSO, SINCE THE PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM DOES NOT ACTUATE THE BRAKE STOP LIGHTS, THE RISK OF A REAR IMPACT WOULD BE INCREASED.

On certain motorcycles with anti-lock brakes (ABS), the front brake line may have been pinched between the fuel tank and the frame at time of assembly or during subsequent servicing. This could cause front brake fluid pressure to increase while riding, potentially resulting in an unexpected front wheel lockup and could result in a loss of vehicle control and a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the brake lines for damage and replace damaged lines as well as install additional retention devices as necessary.

ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE ATTACHMENT OF THE BRAKE LINE SUPPORT BRACKET WITHIN THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL WELL WAS NOT WELDED ACCORDING TO SPECIFICATIONS. IT COULD LOOSEN AND OVER TIME THE BRAKE HOSE COULD RUB AGAINST THE WHEEL WELL.
Safety Risk
THE FRONT LEFT BRAKE HOSE COULD BECOME DAMAGED TO THE POINT WHERE A LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID COULD OCCUR INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL RE-ATTACH THE BRAKE LINE SUPPORT BRACKET TO THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL WELL FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 20, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BMW AT 1-800-831-1117.
VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN PRODUCED WITH AN INADEQUATE SEAL BETWEEN THE FUEL FILLER PIPE HOUSING AND THE FUEL FILLER OPENING COLLAR DUE TO THE OMISSION OF TWO ATTACHING SCREWS DURING VEHICLE ASSEMBLY. IF "SPIT-BACK" OR OVERFLOW WERE TO OCCUR DURING REFUELING, FUEL COULD LEAK INTO THE RIGHT REAR FENDER WELL. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT A FUEL AND AIR MIXTURE IN THE FENDER WELL WOULD BE IGNITED BY NEARBY ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS.

POWER STEERING HOSES MAY LEAK FLUID THAT CAN SPREAD TO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD.
Safety Risk
UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, THE MANIFOLD MAY BECOME HOTENOUGH TO IGNITE THE POWER STEERING FLUID AND RESULT IN AN ENGINE COMPARTMENTFIRE.
Remedy
INSTALL NEW HEAT RESISTANT POWER STEERING HOSES. ALSO, INSTALL NEW FAN COUPLING TO INCREASE AIR FLOW VOLUME THROUGH ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND REPLACE ANY OTHER DAMAGED COMPONENTS.
Certain Focus Electric vehicles may experience a sudden loss of motive power while driving, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

On certain vehicles, the airbag clockspring jumper wire may be oriented in a way that allows contact with the lower horn mounting plate. In this position the wire insulation may chafe, exposing bare copper, and creating the potential for a short circuit. Should this occur, the airbag warning lamp will illuminate, indicating service is required. In some instances, the driver's airbag could inadvertently deploy. Inadvertent deployment in a non-collision (non-impact) situation may create expensive vehicle repair, including replacement of the driver's airbag module. In some instances, inadvertent deployment could cause minor injuries to vehicle occupants.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will install an updated clockspring jumper wire which incorporates a protective mesh cover.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES WERE BUILT WITH THE INFLATORS IN THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG MODULES HAVING THE WRONG AMOUNT OF GENERANT.
Safety Risk
IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH THAT WOULD TRIGGER A PASSENGER AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, TOO MUCH GENERANT CAN CAUSE THE INFLATOR MODULE TO EXPLODE. IF THE AIR BAG MODULE EXPLODES, METAL AND PLASTIC DEBRIS COULD CAUSE SEVERE INJURY TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG UNIT.
VEHICLES MAY CONTAIN THE POTENTIAL FOR A SHORT CIRCUIT BETWEEN THE FUEL INJECTOR RETURN AND BATTERY ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS CAUSED BY THE PROXIMITY OF THE WELDS IN THE WIRING ASSEMBLY ENGINE CONTROL SENSOR. SHOULD A SHORT CIRCUIT OCCUR, THE ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP MAY ENERGIZE AND SOME FUEL INJECTORS MAY OPEN. THIS COULD RESULT IN FUEL DISCHARGING INTO THE ENGINE EVENTUALLY LEAKING FROM THE EXHAUST SYSTEM TO THE GROUND AND CREATING THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE FIRE.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.

Certain motorcycles may have been assembled using an incorrect retaining clip in the rear wheel assembly. This circlip can rub against the spacer bushing, causing metal shavings to penetrate the wheel bearing. Should the wheel bearing fail, it could cause the rear wheel to suddenly lock-up. This, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the rider's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash, causing personal injury or death.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the retaining circlip. If the wrong circlip was installed, the spacing bushing, both wheel bearings, the circlip and both shaft sealing rings will be replaced.
On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the passenger frontal airbag inflator.
