On certain 740I, 740IL and 750IL vehicles, road grit and gravel associated with winter road conditions can penetrate the rubber of the lower front spring mounts and accumulate in the mounts causing notches or pits to develop. Eventually this could cause the coild spring to crack and break at a bottom coild. This could adversely affect the vehicle's dynamic stability and reduce driver control.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Both front springs and lower spring mounts will be replace on affected vehicles.
On certain vehicles equipped with power-adjustable seat with position memory function, the seat wiring harness may be subject to chafe damage. As a result the covering of the seat harness may become damaged, allowing the core wire of the harness to contact a bracket and cause an electrical short-circuit. In the worst case, certain functions such as seat position, height adjustment and seatback reclining may be activated unexpectedly and be uncontrollable. Should this occur while the vehicle is in motion, it could result in a vehicle crash causing property damage, personal injury or death.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and secure the seat harness as required. If necessary, the harness covering will be repaired or the harness will be replaced.

On certain vehicles equipped with diesel engines, the brake switch retaining tab may not have been fully secured into the steel brake pedal assembly bracket, and could allow for the switch and retainer to detach from the bracket. If this were to occur, it could cause the brake lights to illuminate whether the brake pedal is depressed or not, and restrict the ability to move the shifter out of Park. Additionally, the accelerator pedal input would also be disabled, which would result in a loss of motive power. These conditions could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the retainer to ensure that it is properly seated and will repair as necessary.
Honda is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 CR-V, Odyssey, and model year 2013 Acura RDX vehicles. During sub-freezing temperatures, the brake-shift interlock blocking mechanism may become slow and allow the gear selector to be moved from the Park position without pressing the brake pedal. As such, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."
Safety Risk
If the gear selector is moved from the park position without pressing the brake pedal it can allow the vehicle to roll away, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Honda will notify owners and instruct them to take their vehicle to a Honda or Acura dealer. The dealer will install an updated brake shift interlock blocking mechanism free of charge. The recall began on May 13, 2013. Owners may contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009. Honda's campaign recall numbers are S96, S97, and S98.

On certain vehicles, door latch shielding may not be sufficient. As a result, water could enter into the side door latch and freeze, causing the latch mechanism to bind after opening. In addition, latch actuation cables may have been bent or kinked during installation, and could result in latch binding. A frozen door latch, or bent or kinked actuation cable may result in a door that will not open or will not close. If a latch does not fully engage the door striker, there is a potential for a door to open while the vehicle is in motion, which could increase the risk of injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will install water shields over the door latches and the door latch actuation cables will be inspected and repaired if needed.

On certain vehicles, the interface between the electrical terminals of the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) blower relay resistor module and the wiring connector (which powers the module) may be incapable of conducting higher current levels for sustained periods of operation. In addition, moisture and other contaminants (such as road de-icing materials) may enter the fresh air intake plenum and contact the internal circuit of the module or corrode the terminals. These conditions may cause the relay resistor module or wiring connector to overheat, causing various symptoms such as: the HVAC blower may not function on certain or all blower speed settings; a burning-plastic smell or smoke may be present in the vehicle, or; the HVAC blower may run continually with the ignition in the OFF position. These warning signs could, in certain instances, be leading indicators of an impending vehicle fire, which could result in property damage and/or personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Owners will be provided with additional warranty coverage for the blower motor resistor module/wiring connector overheating condition. Under this "special warranty coverage", should this condition occur within 10 years or 240,000 km from first vehicle registration, dealers will install a replacement blower motor resistor and resistor module connector.
On certain vehicles, the seat belt buckles may have a burr on a metal component of the locking mechanism. The presence of the burr may prevent the seat belt from locking under certain circumstances.
