THE SUB-ZERO TEMPERATURES, MOISTURE FROM THE CRANKCASE VENT SYSTEM MAY ACCUMULATE IN THE AIR REGULATOR CAUSING POSSIBLE PROLONGED HIGH ENGINE EDLE IF A VEHICLE OWNER FAILS TO COMPLETE A FULL WARMUP BEFORE DRIVING. ALSO UNDER CERTAIN WEATHER AND DRIVING CONDITIONS A GUM MAY BE FORMED BETWEEN THE CARBURETOR THROTTLE SHAFT AND BUSHINGS, WHICH MAY AFFECT THE SMOOTH OPERATION OF THE SHAFT.
THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCHES ON THESE VEHICLES CAN CORRODE CAUSING A VERY HIGH LATCH RELEASE EFFORT AND POSSIBLY PREVENTING THE HOOD FROM LATCHING PROPERLY WHEN IT IS CLOSED. IF THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH IS NOT PROPERLY ENGAGED THE HOOD COULD OPEN UNEXPECTEDLY. IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, THE DRIVER'S FORWARD VISION WOULD BE IMPAIRED POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
A NEW SCONDARY HOOD LATCH ASSEMBLY WITH IMPROVED CORROSION RESISTANCE WILL BE INSTALLED ON AFFECTED VEHICLES.
